About the CEO

Biography Allen Jackson Jr. was born July 17, 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland, the last of five children and the father of three children. Confused at a young age after the loss of his only brother, his life spiraled into hopelessness. At the age of fourteen he was sentenced to an indifferent period of incarceration for being ungovernable. Gradually he drifted into a life of drugs and crime. He spent the next 25 years behind bars, for various crimes. While in prison he found it hard to live up to other people’s expectation of him because he had no vision. Self taught and self educated, he was determined to make change for the better and find his way out of the life that he lived. He continued to receive support from his family who stood by his side, providing him with the knowledge that life was better on the outside. He soon began to research and learn the art of creative writing. He recognized that people on the outside know very little about the life that is lived on the inside, when incarceration extends over a long period of time. He thought that when people learned about someone who is incarcerated they see the individual from the point of view of the courts, from those that are responsible for its upbringing and detention. He decided to share that part of his life which he details in his first novel entitled The Perils of Three Strikes which is near completion. In that novel he describes his success and failures in very vivid details. Soon he managed to pass off various parts of his experience when he studied and began to council youths while incarcerated. He received various awards and certificates for his achievements. In 1991 he started a series of self help and support services programs that helped facilitate his transition from thug life to a better life. In 1991 he completed the Junction Bridge, Inc short cycle programs. This led to certain administrative officials who offered him to join several group counseling sessions entitled bettering problem solving, decisions making, communications and relationships skills. He graduated with honors receiving over 8 different awards and certificates for his involvement. In 1999 he joined a support group for long term incarcerated individuals and participated for 5 years. He was also awarded a certificate for recognition of valuable contributions and commitment to the At Risk Program for Juveniles. This award extended from 1999 through 2004. While in prison he met a guy that taught him the fine line of writing poetry, and in 2004 he copyrighted his first book Visions of the Insider. A short time after that he developed a second poetry book called Visions of the Insider 11. Inspired by his success he develop a series of books called Visions of Love and Romance, and Reminiscing a Vision but he did not stop there. Continuing on he wanted to write novels, about the life that he felt so connected to and lived. Writing became his only means of escape from a life that tied him to a past that crippled his development for a number of years. Now mentally in control he sided with a prison friend to start his first novel, called Streetwise. In order to determine whether his writing was any good he used his prison friends to read and critique his work. Fascinated by his own achievements he challenged himself to develop a series of street novels that would hit the market and create an audience that would come back for more. Now he sits at the computer almost daily writing with the goal of producing a collection of books that he feels will measure up to those on the shelves now, the Donald Goines, Ice Berg Slim type. Thanks to his motivation he now maintains a series of novels and poems soon to hit the market. Finally he desires to start his own publishing company called Insidepublications for all those that he was for 25 years, are locked away inside and have no voice and no support. In a sense, this anthology is a demonstration that there is life after death. My work is dedicated to my mother, Inell Jackson, my father, Allen Jackson Sr., Akeisha, Brandon Brittany and my sister who never thinks that she is included in anything, with much love.
